Jump to: navigation, search

Catechins are polyphenolic antioxidants metabolites, called flavonoids. They are hugely present in plant species and have been the subject of numerous studies for health benefits for human beings. The largest source in our diet comes from the tea plant Camellia sinensis, where it is present abundantly. According to Norman Hollenberg, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, epicatechin can reduce the risk of four of the major health problems: stroke, heart failure, cancer and diabetes.
