CopperWiki:About
From CopperWiki
CopperWiki is a fast conductor for information, one which gives us choices for living a healthy, useful and conscious life. We know a lot of information exists—but it exists out there piecemeal. We have to hunt for it, evaluate the credibility of each source and all the hard work sinks when it is time for the next update.
[edit] How is it different from Wikipedia?
To answer an obvious question, as to how it is different from The Wikipedia, CopperWiki is an alternative resource that brings about awareness and focusses on the individual. A quick reference on how to remodel our lives, it has numerous examples of what others know and practice, and comparisons and evaluation of their choices. It questions established concepts and tackles marketing myths that prevail, and attempts to remove the haze of confusion surrounding things that are important for living a healthy, useful and conscious life. In addition, CopperWiki recalls traditional knowledge and how we can apply this information in everyday life.
It is based on the premise that we need to encourage, nurture and share the best in everyone and everything. How does something benefit you and me? Can it harm us? How can you source it easily or make it happen? How can you apply it to better the world? What can we do about the many issues surrounding us? What have others done? Where do we start? Local level information …
Get access to well-informed opinion and stylish inspiration. One-stop shopping for information scripted by the shoppers themselves, if you excuse the analogy.
[edit] Who can write here?
Visitors do not need specialised qualifications to contribute, since their primary role is to write articles that cover existing knowledge; this means that people of all ages and cultural and social backgrounds can write Wikipedia articles. With rare exceptions, articles can be edited by anyone with access to the Internet, simply by clicking the edit this page link. Anyone is welcome to add information, cross-references or citations, as long as they do so within Wikipedia's editing policies and to an appropriate standard. For example, if you add information to an article, be sure to include your references, as unreferenced facts are subject to removal.
[edit] Do I Need to be careful about something?
There is no need to worry about accidentally damaging CopperWiki when adding or improving information, as other editors are always around to advise or correct obvious errors, and CopperWiki's software, known as MediaWiki, is carefully designed to allow easy reversal of editorial mistakes.
Because CopperWiki is an ongoing work to which, in principle, anybody can contribute, it differs from other reference source in important ways. In particular, older articles tend to be more comprehensive and balanced, while newer articles might contain some misinformation, unencyclopedic content, and may not be in line with the purpose of CopperWiki. Users need to be aware of this to obtain valid information and avoid misinformation that has been recently added and not yet removed. To see what CopperWiki articles strive to be, take a look at ourstar articles.
Incidentally, CopperWiki is continually updated.
CopperWiki articles are based on reliable published sources, and these sources should be cited so that other editors can check articles. We are piecing together a massive jigsaw puzzle, and won’t stop editing our pages till the last piece falls into place. So get started, and enjoy!
