Talk:Cheetah Conservation

Some interesting information--
Scientists say that genetic factors also play a small role in Cheetah becoming an endangered speicies. The mortality rate is very high as a result of these genetic factors. Recent efforts to increase the cheetah population through inbreeding has also led to poor sperm, birth defects and abnormal physical features. Some biologists now believe that the cheetahs are too inbred to flourish as a species. Scietists are also studying if low genetic diversity correlates with loss of fitness, a factor which might have further hastened their extinction.
